In modern times, the world seems to be full of believers who simply think that their “ordinary” lives are not good enough or to make an impact in the world. There are a handful of Christians who simply dream of making a difference for God but are too afraid to do so.

While some doubt their own capabilities, there are also some who think that serving God and their purpose entails them to travel halfway around the world when in fact, their mission can start right outside their own backyards or even in the confines of their own homes!

Which raises the question, what does it really mean to be a Christian in today’s world?

We often hear people complain about technology and how it is polluting the minds of our youth but what we don’t realize that technology can also be a blessing for us Christians who want to spread the word of the Lord. When we come to think of it, we can make the word of Christ available at the touch of a screen through applications, support groups, and discussion groups that are readily and freely available to us in this day and age.

In the face of adversity and rampant racism, we can practice our Christianity by being good brothers and sisters to those who have fallen and have been victimized by such prideful acts. We can set a good example and remind others that there is no such thing as color, race or religion- simply love that we must show to one another.

The book of John tells us in chapter 13 verses 34- 35 that, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. “By this, all men will know that you are My disciples if you have love for one another.”

It is a beautiful verse that the Lord has betrothed to us which we should carry with us in our hearts at all times.

It is true, the world is truly changing, which only means that we as Christians should also change the way we serve the Lord. We can be good examples and be good Christians even and especially in times like today!

Wilson Alvarez, a lover of Jesus Christ had an early experience where he had a vision of the Risen Lord & instantaneously became a believer at the prime age of 3. Through out his young life, he always felt protection and blessings and even though was not walking with the Lord, always acknowledged his blessings. It was when he turned 30, that he became a follower and prayed based on John 3:3 – “In order to enter the Kingdom of God, you must be born again.” Mr. Alvarez enjoys Men’s ministries and is active in the prison ministry movement where he gives weekly leadership and christian talks.
