The world is full of struggles: racism, war, pride and so many things that we would all be better off without. Wouldn’t you agree?
So what is really keeping us from being closer to God? What is keeping this world, as a whole, apart from a better life that we could have with Christ? The answer is clear- our own human actions.
It seems like an impossible dream but if the world could come together in Christ, it would be a much better place for every one of us to live in but is it even possible?
Before looking at the bigger picture, I think it is important for us to first and foremost, look at ourselves. Are we separated from God? And if so, how can we patch this gap?
- Prayer
Before we try to heal the world, we must first heal ourselves. Prayer is a powerful thing and together with faith, it can grant us even the most impossible things.
1 John 5:14 reminds us that, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”
But how do we know if we are praying correctly? First of all, prayer must come from the heart and must be in the name of Jesus, who died for our sins. It doesn’t have to be loud prayers, Christ listens to even the most silent of prayers for as long as it is heartfelt.
Prayer must be done fervently and consistently.
- Reading the Bible
While prayer is good, reading the Bible and communicating to Christ, through the bible is even better. When we have questions that we need answers to, Christ provides them His holy word. Reading the bible and understanding it is always beneficial.
- Discipleship
And lastly, discipleship. We might not be able to conquer the entire world right away but if we do so one person at a time, we might be able to do so. Discipleship takes a lot of prayer and understanding of the word which is why we should also seek help from our elders.
Having said all of this, we must ask ourselves, “are we ready to make the world a better place?” and more importantly, “are we ready to bring the world closer to God one person at a time?”
If the answer is yes, may the Lord forever live with all of us!
Wilson Alvarez, a lover of Jesus Christ had an early experience where he had a vision of the Risen Lord & instantaneously became a believer at the prime age of 3. Through out his young life, he always felt protection and blessings and even though was not walking with the Lord, always acknowledged his blessings. It was when he turned 30, that he became a follower and prayed based on John 3:3 – “In order to enter the Kingdom of God, you must be born again.” Mr. Alvarez enjoys Men’s ministries and is active in the prison ministry movement where he gives weekly leadership and christian talks.
