Did you grow up visioning your life to be different from what it is today? Did you have high expectations and dreams that didn’t get fulfilled along the way? Beginning in from a young age, many of us are taught to dream about our future and told we can have and do anything we want.

As children, it’s easy to believe. So, we really dream big. Some of us can easily confess that we once wanted to be a doctor, lawyer, mother, father, football player, astronaut, actor, actress, artist, biologist, scientist and more. We would say out loud that we are going to be successful, live in a beautiful house, go on amazing vacations and have a family.

As we grow up, life doesn’t always follow our childhood dreams. There are many obstacles in life that we are forced to overcome. With each of these obstacles, our big dreams tend to become smaller and smaller until we can’t even dream about them anymore.

Sometimes we put the obstacles in our own way, by becoming addicted to alcohol, prescription drugs, and other substances. Generally, the addiction originates with an emotional issue due to past trauma that happened in our lives. And other times it’s just the people or circumstances around us that drive us in the wrong direction. Many people tend to find faith in the Lord during their most difficult times fighting against their addiction.

Happily, many people with addictions successfully overcome their addiction and live a beautiful life. However, it’s often quite difficult for some who are trying to put their life back together after addiction. The good news is, it’s not too late to be what you might have been.

Anyone who has overcome addiction understands there are many areas of your life that need to be put back together. One of the first places to start is with your family. Try to repair your relationships with your family. Sometimes it was family members that influenced your addiction in the first place. This is a harsh reality which means you might have to limit your access to these people until they take control of their own addiction.

After you form a family bond, you should take the next step of realizing your childhood dreams. Take a moment to look back at what you wanted your life to be like. Do you still want the same things? Or, do you prefer to find new dreams and a new vision for your life?

Whatever your decision, it’s important to begin creating your life step-by-step. Take one of your life goals and create smaller goals to achieve them step-by-step. Today is the day you can start making your dreams come true! Get started now, it’s not too late!

Wilson Alvarez, a lover of Jesus Christ had an early experience where he had a vision of the Risen Lord & instantaneously became a believer at the prime age of 3. Through out his young life, he always felt protection and blessings and even though was not walking with the Lord, always acknowledged his blessings. It was when he turned 30, that he became a follower and prayed based on John 3:3 – “In order to enter the Kingdom of God, you must be born again.” Mr. Alvarez enjoys Men’s ministries and is active in the prison ministry movement where he gives weekly leadership and christian talks.
