Luke 10

Jesus Sends Out the Seventy-two

1 After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.

5 When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay in that house, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.

Let’s think about this scripture for a moment. He sent them out in two’s to do mission work in order to keep accountability between both parties. When you do mission work, do you go alone or with others?

In today’s busy world our schedules are filled with activities from the moment we wake up to the moment we fall to sleep. It might be difficult to find the time to visit door to door to spread the word. But, most of us find time to do it. However, some of us need help adjusting our schedules.

In addition to finding time for mission work in our own schedules, it becomes more complicated when we need to find a partner to come along with us. This could be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be.

First, you need to find time in your own schedule for mission work. It’s best to schedule it the same days of the week and time frame for every mission. Next, you need to input it into your calendar and set a reminder. Then you need to contact a partner to coordinate with. Keep in mind it doesn’t have to be the same partner each time.

You can choose a different partner who has time on their schedule the same time you have your mission work blocked off on your calendar. You can even coordinate calendars and make an event out of it. As Christians, it’s essential to spread the word and be accountable for what we say and how we present ourselves. Let’s get out there today!

Wilson Alvarez, a lover of Jesus Christ had an early experience where he had a vision of the Risen Lord & instantaneously became a believer at the prime age of 3. Throughout his young life, he always felt protection and blessings and even though was not walking with the Lord, always acknowledged his blessings. It was when he turned 30, that he became a follower and prayed based on John 3:3 – “In order to enter the Kingdom of God, you must be born again.” Mr. Alvarez enjoys Men’s ministries and is active in the prison ministry movement where he gives weekly leadership and christian talks.
