Everyone wants to be saved but not everyone actually knows how we can be saved. But actually, just the mere thought of wanting to be saved is already the first step.
As little children, we were told the story of Adam and Eve, the wonderful life sin-free life they lived in the Garden of Eden and how they had an intimate fellowship with Christ which we no longer have. We were also told that in order for us to return to the Garden of Eden (Heaven), we must become good Christians and pray to be saved.
Up to this day, becoming a good Christian is something we all struggle with, as we come to discover that life will throw us kinds of struggles whether it be troubles of the heart, the mind, earthly possessions and so much more. But despite this, it does not deny the fact that we still wish to be saved.
Galatians 5:19- 21 says, “19 the acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery;
20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions
21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Unfortunately, as obvious as they are, we still continue to do them.
So what can we do as Christians to be saved?
- Get Baptized
- Preach and share God’s word and your faith in Christ
- Read your bible daily and spend time with the Lord daily
- Seek for fellowship to develop your faith and to continue to learn, develop and share the word with others through the words of the Bible
- Seek for guidance from other believers
- Participate and be active in your local church and community
These may seem like a simple step by step process but the reality is, the life of salvation is anything BUT simple. Life of a Christian is difficult and it will throw us through multiple obstacles but it is not impossible to do and for the most part, the rewards are a hundredfold. It is a life of promise which the Lord has granted us which is the best reward anyone can receive.
Are we truly ready to be saved and if so, what are we willing to do and sacrifice in order to reach our salvation?
Wilson Alvarez, a lover of Jesus Christ had an early experience where he had a vision of the Risen Lord & instantaneously became a believer at the prime age of 3. Through out his young life, he always felt protection and blessings and even though was not walking with the Lord, always acknowledged his blessings. It was when he turned 30, that he became a follower and prayed based on John 3:3 – “In order to enter the Kingdom of God, you must be born again.” Mr. Alvarez enjoys Men’s ministries and is active in the prison ministry movement where he gives weekly leadership and christian talks.
