First of all, God did not create us to be exactly like Him therefore, we were made with our own set of limitations and boundaries.

As we were made with limitations, we were also created weak and fragile- constantly seeking for survival, strength, divine intervention, wisdom, and solace.

A lot of us have the misconception that we are invincible and that we can waver on our own when the truth is, we cannot live without Christ.

Philippians 4:13 clearly states that we can [what I like to believe, only] do all things through Christ who gives us strength and therefore, we must never forget that as invincible as we think we are- we still need Christ.

You see, it is important to know, admit and accept the limitations imposed on us as human beings because it allows us to be humble and it also reminds us to seek the Lord. It is a reality pill that allows us to be open to learning, open to be helped by Christ and allow Him to work in our lives instead of us constantly trying to lead our own ways- even when we don’t exactly know where we are headed to.

So what are our limitations as Christians, exactly?

  1. Limitations of time- we do not own time and also, we are living off time that is simply borrowed.
  2. Limitations of space – we cannot be in more than one space at one time.
  3. Limitations of knowledge – let’s face it, we simply cannot know everything!
  4. Limitations of control – we cannot control anything in this world- not the time, the weather, circumstances.
  5. Limitations of power – we cannot and quite honestly, should not try to overpower anyone.
  6. Limitations of abilities – we may be blessed with certain gifts and abilities but that doesn’t mean that we can possess all of them.

So what does it mean to be reminded of our limitations? That there is only one sovereign God who does and that He should be praised! He is the one who has blessed us with this life, these things and these capabilities and therefore, we should strive to be like Him but also accept the fact that we are not superheroes but… Christ is!

Wilson Alvarez, a lover of Jesus Christ had an early experience where he had a vision of the Risen Lord & instantaneously became a believer at the prime age of 3. Through out his young life, he always felt protection and blessings and even though was not walking with the Lord, always acknowledged his blessings. It was when he turned 30, that he became a follower and prayed based on John 3:3 – “In order to enter the Kingdom of God, you must be born again.” Mr. Alvarez enjoys Men’s ministries and is active in the prison ministry movement where he gives weekly leadership and christian talks.
