What is life to you, is it a journey or is it a destination?
As Christians, we should believe that life is our journey towards the promised land that the Lord has shared with us, as unworthy as we are but, of course, it doesn’t come easy, nor cheap, nor instantly.
So what is the journey of a Christian really like? Here is an idea:
- It involves the willingness to start a new life in the Lord.
If we want to make a journey towards our destination, which is a lifetime with Christ after this one, we must first be willing to make a commitment to a new life. Many have shared that this life with Christ is anything but easy with no definite fulfillment of this promise but through faith, it is as real as we imagine it to be.
- We must accept that once we accept the Lord, our lives are about to change.
As mentioned earlier, it’s no walk in the park. Christ has a way of turning our lives around, as He wishes, to test if our hearts are in the right place and if we are truly worthy of His Kingdom.
- Understanding that we will stumble and fall but we must always listen to God.
It is normal and only human and expected of us to fall into our old ways but this is not the end of the line. Sometimes, when faced with adversities, it is easier to revert to the familiar and sinful ground which isn’t necessarily the best way to go but if our hearts are in the right place and if we always seek the Lord, He will listen and put us on the right path.
- Our new lives involve constant communication with Christ.
We cannot build a relationship with Christ without listening to Him. Reading, praying and learning about Him is the most constant thing that we should practice if we want to live and be like Him. We need to fall in love with Christ and spend our lives constantly getting to know Him.
- We should aim to walk with the Lord and then to walk with others and finally, invite others to join us on this path.
No man is an army and it is better to walk hand in hand with our brothers rather than alone.
So, are we ready to partake in this wonderful journey?
Wilson Alvarez, a lover of Jesus Christ had an early experience where he had a vision of the Risen Lord & instantaneously became a believer at the prime age of 3. Through out his young life, he always felt protection and blessings and even though was not walking with the Lord, always acknowledged his blessings. It was when he turned 30, that he became a follower and prayed based on John 3:3 – “In order to enter the Kingdom of God, you must be born again.” Mr. Alvarez enjoys Men’s ministries and is active in the prison ministry movement where he gives weekly leadership and christian talks.
