Have you ever noticed a crowd of people will witness the same event yet have different accounts of what happened? It’s like sending people to your backyard and have them witness what they are seeing and ask them to share the details. Often they will say the same story, but with a variety of details. This happens because each person focuses on a variety of details. While one person is noticing one specific detail, the next person witnesses others. The same situation goes for Gospels in the Holy Bible. The following gospels were written at different times in history, yet the stories match.
- Mark 1:11 – This gospel was written between A.D. 55 to A.D. 70. “And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
- Mathew 3:17 – This gospel was written between A.D. 50 to A.D. 70. “And a voice from heaven said, “This is my son, whom I love; with him I am pleased.”
- Luke 9:35 – This gospel was written before A.D. 62. “A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”
- John 12:28 – This gospel was written during the 1st “Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.”
As you can see these scriptures are similar to each other but written at different times. There are many scriptures throughout the new testament that are similar even though they were written in different time periods. This highlights the importance of biblical scriptures throughout history. Even centuries apart, the stories remained the same. This also points out the detailed information was kept sacred and shared with those throughout history.
The historical accounts were obviously shared among many, but especially those who were considered to be trusted and influential in society. Thankfully this information was documented throughout the bible, to assure all of us how far the message ““You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased” reached throughout history and continues to do so today!
